Recently there has been discussion within the ozfortress community on the prevalence of several prominent exploits and scripts. For those unaware, the main examples of the exploits that were discussed are:
- Replacing footstep sounds (with another more distinct footstep sound)
- Replacing the Spy decloak sound (commonly done using the audio from the Shred Alert taunt)
While these are the main two that were discussed, there are others that also fit into this category. We would like to make clear to all players that these exploits are not legal in ozfortress competitions and as such all players found using them will be punished. These exploits will be considered cheating and appropriate punishments will be dealt to users found abusing them.
Moving forward, however, we will not be retroactively punishing players for using these exploits prior to the posting of this announcement. Our reasoning for this is that many of these exploits are very easily accessible and are achievable through the use of VPKs and scripts. As there are many VPKs and scripts that are legal, and the installation process is extremely simple, we felt it was important to clarify that we do consider these exploits cheating before we begin punishing players who continue to use them. Another important note is that there are many common VPKs and scripts that we do not consider cheating. These include but are not limited to: The no explosion smoke script, replacing weapon sounds with other weapon sounds (commonplace with The Original and the stock Rocket Launcher) and performance configs (the popular mastercomfig makes use of VPKs).
If any players are unsure of the legality of a specific script or VPK, their first step should be to contact an administrator. Any players found using an exploit that the admin team considers to be cheating will be punished. Ignorance is not an excuse.
Thank you,
The ozfortress administration team

The ozfortress seasonal league has returned for the third and final time in 2020. Whether you're a hardened veteran of the scene or a newcomer to 6v6, there will be a place for you in ozfortress season 29 and we hope to see you there!
The map pool for OZF 29 will again comprise of nine maps and certain maps will be played once during the regular season with other maps being played twice. This season we're yet again saying goodbye to Prolands as well as recent ozfortress staple Logjam. In their place we're seeing the return of our favourite love-it or hate-it map Reckoner as well as Villa, which is hot off its recent appearance in ISOLATION DEVASTATION 2020.
There will be five skill divisions in OZF 29. The brackets we will feature are: Premier, High, Intermediate, Main and Open! Both Premier and High will have a round robin group stage while the bottom three brackets will consist of a Swiss group stage. All brackets will continue using the Page Playoffs format. Grand Finals for Premier shall be played as a no-advantage best of five, while all other division's Grand Finals will be a best of three. Premier and High will have eight teams while Intermediate, Main and Open's bracket sizes are pending signups. Depending on the number of signups we receive for OZF 29, we may adjust the number of skill divisions after signups have closed.
During OZF 29 we plan on conducting random demo checks to ensure players are recording demos. Please ensure that you are recording match demos in order to avoid punishment.
Transfers will continue to be completed on a bi-weekly basis. The system will allow admins more time to review and accept transfers.
We will also be featuring several new plugins on ozfortress servers for OZF 29. Along with the plugins we added last season to fix several bugs in the game (namely the sticky-det bug and the ramp slide bug) we'll also be adding in the plugin to fix ghost crossbow bolts as well as the plugin to remove halloween mode from ozfortress servers. Along with the plugins introduced in OZF 28, these are the only plugins we will be using for OZF 29. No others will be added.
This season we will also be experimenting with the forfeit all matches on disband setting. Previously, if a team disbanded during the season then all matches that they had already played would turn into forfeit wins for the other team. This season all match results from a disbanded team will stand, and no matches will be retroactively forfeited.
All server booking will continue to be done through ozfortress discord. Simply join the #bookings channel in the ozfortress Discord and type /book and details of your server booking will be PM'd to you. To view more commands, type /help in the #bookings channel.
On the ozfortress website, captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, captains can invite players to the team. Team invites are shown on a player's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a pool of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be in the pool for multiple teams but only one active roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a roster for tournaments under the league page.
If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the #recruitment section of the ozfortress Discord where you can express your interest in joining a team, or peruse potential players to form a team of your own. Teams are normally comprised of one Medic, one Demoman, two Soldiers and two Scouts. If you're new to the competitive scene, click here for an introduction to ozfortress!
Please ensure you have enough backups to last the season; teams are allowed a maximum of ten players rostered on for any single tournament.
You can sign up for ozfortress season 29 from Sunday the 30th of August up until Wednesday the 9th of September. We aim to have seeding out by the 12th of September with the season starting on the 13th, however this is subject to change. This gap between the closing of signups and the start of the season is to give the administration team more time to seed. ozfortress season 29 will begin on Sunday the 13th of September.
