ozfortress Ultiduo 18: May Madness '24

Maximum Signups

We may look to limit the maximum team signup numbers to somewhere between 40-48 teams, as we are worried we will not have enough servers to effectively cover any more teams. It's not ideal, but sadly may have to happen. We will let everyone know how things are looking as we find out ourselves.

Ultiduo is back in 2024 with Ultiduo 18!

ozfortress' famed Ultiduo returns, this time as a part of our May Madness off-season. Ultiduo 18 will kick off a series of tournaments between the Autumn '24 and Winter '24 seasons.

Signups

You can sign up for Ultiduo 18 from now (Wednesday the 17th of April 2024), up until Wednesday the 1st of May 2024. We aim to have initial seedings out by Friday the 3rd of May at the latest. As always, Ultiduo will be on a Saturday, Saturday the 4th of May 2024.

Please note: We will seed your team based on both players, regardless of who is playing Soldier or Medic.

Changes coming for Ultiduo 18

New Ultiduo, new... Ultiduo things. We've made some changes after internal discussions with our advisors and staff, all in the hopes of spicing up the competition for Ultiduo 18.

Weapon Unlocks

Ultiduo in ozfortress has used the same traditional whitelist for many years. Some may find it stale, some may like it how it is, and there is a chance many aren't that bothered. So we're running polls to gauge interest in potentially adding some new unlocks for Ultiduo 18. With the polls closed, it was clear two unlocks have the potential to be added. We aren't sure which unlock between the Disciplinary Action and Solemn Vow will be added to the whitelist, if not both, but we'll take some time during the signups period and let you know once we've decided. If you have any opinions you want to voice on these two unlocks, please feel free to let us know in #tf-discussion in our Discord.

Solemn Vow (✓- 25%)
Disciplinary Action (✓- 22%)
Blutsauger (✗- 15%)
Overdose (✗- 13%)
Vita-Saw (✗- 13%)
Amputator (✗- 11%)

We're only looking to implement the two most voted-for weapon unlocks as we are hesitant to change the meta/state of Ultiduo heavily, and both weapons are the largest potential changes in weapon meta we could implement.

Maps

ozfortress' Ultiduo competitions have always been using our map, ultiduo_ozf_r. But with Ultiduo 18, we wanted to see if players would be interested in other, newer maps. The results are in, and Ultiduo 18 will see the introduction of:

ultiduo_swine_b06 (30% of votes)
ultiduo_baloo_v2 (29% of votes)
ultiduo_champions_b1 (21% of votes)

This will bring our total maps to four. We hope their addition will spice things up for Ultiduo 18!

Ultiduo Ruleset

It's been needed for some time. For newer players, there were a lot of questions that our typical ruleset would normally answer for Sixes or Highlander. So, we've made an Ultiduo ruleset! We often found that it was difficult for players to infer what rules from our Global Ruleset and previously the "Competitive Ruleset" (before Highlander and the move to docs.ozfortress.com), so we spent some time working on a fresh new Ultiduo ruleset. If you've played Ultiduo before in ozfortress, we've done our darndest to make sure nothing has changed, but please do give it a read! There may be rules you were never aware of. Reminders

During Ultiduo 18 we plan on conducting random demo checks to ensure players are recording POV demos. Please ensure that you are recording match demos to avoid punishment.
If you are unsure of whether or not something is considered a game exploit, contact a League Administrator for clarification. Ignorance is not an excuse.
