Autumn '24 Sixes Is Here!

2024 kicks off with a bang! New year, new season, new faces, new changes.

Signups

You can sign up for Sixes Autumn '24 (S39) from Wednesday the 24th of January 2024, up until Wednesday the 7th of February 2024. We aim to have initial seedings and restrictions out by Friday the 9th of February at the latest. The season starts Sunday the 11th of February 2024.

Staff Updates

Late last year we welcomed Celph and Hawk to the Sixes team, and we welcome two further additions to the Sixes Admin team, emgee and HUNGRY.4.EGGS. We do, however, say goodbye to a team of ants in his prime who is stepping down from his admin duties.

General Changes

Upper Division Changes  

  • The Upper Divisions see the departure of Reckoner and Sultry and in their place return Granary and Metalworks.
  • Upper Division matches during the Regular Season now follow a pick/ban system.
    • Each match has four maps available; each team eliminates one map each, with the remaining two maps being played.
  • The Upper Division playoffs system has been overhauled, including the pick/ban order and the system itself. Read more here.
  • STV demos must now be provided on match threads.

Lower Division Changes  

  • The Lower Divisions* see the departure of Clearcut and Sultry and in their place return Granary and Metalworks.
    • Although Open is a Lower Division, it will feature a concentrated map pool of just seven maps. This should support newer players in learning established maps in more depth.
  • For Lower Division matches, the Progressive Ruleset Timer has been modified to only activate in the event that two teams are tied. Subsequently, the Map Timer has been changed to 30 minutes once again.

Reminders

  • During Sixes Autumn '24 (S39) we plan on conducting random demo checks to ensure players are recording POV demos. Please ensure that you are recording match demos in order to avoid punishment.
  • Our rulesets have been rewritten to improve general clarity and relevance to modern ozfortress competitions as discussed here. Players should ensure they are familiar with the rule changes and should contact a League Administrator for support if necessary.
  • If you are unsure of whether or not something is considered a game exploit, contact a League Administrator for clarification. Ignorance is not an excuse.
