Thread: OZF 33 - Congratulations to the Winners & Runner-ups!
core League Director

With Season 33 all wrapped up, it's about time we formally congratulate the teams! We would like to thank everyone for returning for the thirty third season of ozfortress, Season 34 news is only just a few days away, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled!

The Premier Prizepool has been distributed, and we will be in contact with division winners in the next few days to nominate a captain on their team to receive Qixalite Tier 2 Premium for 3 months.

Congratulations Premier winners 30!

Placements

1st - 30
2nd - freakshow
3rd - the doom dimension

Admin’s MVP pick

The choice is clear for me, it’s daz. Hitting a total of 11 airshots as a demoman, in a Grand Finals matchup is simply incredible. And while an airshot is typically just pizzazz, many of theirs were crucially timed and consistently kept freakshow neck and neck with 30. From disposing of bombing players to leading incredible demoman solo ubers, daz took freakshow to the fifth map in a way none of us were ready for.

There is someone else who deserves an honourable mention, matt from 30. matt was the only player throughout the series who beat out daz in the logs, and come away with the highest DPM over the entire series. matt paved the way for their team throughout the Grand Final and was undeniably one of the key players for 30 in the series.

Admin’s MVP pick

The Dark Knight, the K1ng, AUZ is our pick. Very rarely are demoman players truly appreciated and celebrated as star players, but continuing the Premier Grand Final’s demomen trend, AUZ showed up with the most airshots in the series. Not only that, their ubers were almost never uber trades, if AUZ didn’t get something out of it, you could be sure that someone else on Agents had. In the end though, their star performance didn’t bring them the win, but they did bring home the MVP.

Scout mains are loved by some, referred to as insects by others. One thing is for sure though, everyone does love to see a scout dancing on the corpses of their enemies… oh just me? ethan brought 51 kills into their ozfortress Grand Finals debut. They’ve been in this atmosphere before, but going in with the goal of taking the top spot for that season? That’s tough. Their teammate and demoman player luckt opened things up for them, and ethan took the preverbial ball and ran with it, bringing their team into the winners position, and a season win etched into the records of ozfortress.

3rd - The Low Open Theory

Admin’s MVP pick

This MVP pick is Open for discussion… sorry I had to. What isn’t though, is Miffy for MVP. Whilst not putting up any crazy statistics, they have managed to put up consistent kills with very low deaths, working well with their demoman to clean up damage at crucial moments. Miffy also took the most scout on scout fights in the server, and won 20 of them, all while maintaining 16 deaths in the series.

Thread: Ultiduo 16 - Seedings & Tournament Information

Seedings have been released

They're done! You can head over to the Ultiduo 16 page to see where your team has been seeded. Please bring any objections with your seeding to an administrator prior to midday Sunday the 24th of April, otherwise your team will remain where it is.

ultiduo_ozf_r

ozfortress Ultiduo returns better than ever!

We're happy to announce that the final version of ultiduo_ozf_r is now available for download. Massive props to skaz for bringing us this retheme of the original ozfortress koth_ultiduo_b7 that features a range of fixes! You can download the map on the Ultiduo 16 page or here. Also a massive thank you to soda (@sodaboop) for creating the beautiful SFM banners seen on the map!

Booking servers for Ultiduo 16

Server booking can be done via the ozfortress discord once again, praise be to the almighty Reginald. Simply join the #bookings channel in the ozfortress Discord and type /booking create, follow the prompts and details of your server booking will be DM'd to you. You can also book a server via Qixalite's Discord, using their #tf2-booking channel, and execute the same commands to change the map and config.

Using your bookable server:

Changing the map to ozfortress Ultiduo map:

rcon changelevel ultiduo_ozf_r

Executing the Ultiduo config on your bookable server:

rcon ozf-ud-ultiduo

These commands will work on both ozfortress and Qixalite servers.

Schedule & Format

The schedule for Ultiduo 16 can be found on the Ultiduo 16 tournament page, or here. We have allowed 15 minutes break between games for both the Group Stages and Playoffs. With signups for Ultiduo 16 nearly reaching fourty, we've elected to use Single Elimination in Playoffs. This will mean eight (8) teams will proceed into Playoffs from their respective division, and Playoffs for both divisions will be run simultaneously on Tuesday the 26th of April. The Group Stages will be making use of the Swiss System, and thus will feature five (5) rounds of ultiduo_ozf_r, played to a Best of 1 format. This will mean you submit your score as either 1-0 / 0-1. The same principles applies for Playoffs, with the only difference being the matches will be played to a Best of 3 format instead.

Administration for Ultiduo 16

Due to varying availability on varying days, there are no administrators designated to each division, so please feel free to contact an available administrator by making use of #admin-support in our Discord!

Coverage of Ultiduo 16

KritzKast is looking to cover parts of the Division 1 action, primarily Day 3 / Playoffs. Casting from non-approved casting groups is allowed for the event, but please ensure you do not interfere with the matches in any way, and seek approval from the captains of both teams.

End of season poll & Winners' threads

The typical end of season poll you would expect around this time is being delayed until after Ultiduo 16, as we want to collect feedback on this along with other seasonal competition changes, ruleset and infraction changes, and more!

The Winners' threads you have grown used to seeing at the end of each season will be combined into one news post, which will contain the awards for each division and a match MVP from each Grand Finals' matchup. We're doing this as we feel the writeups were something that weren't typically read, and this will allow us to focus extra time into other areas.

ozfortress Ultiduo returns with Ultiduo 16!

ozfortress' Ultiduo makes it's return during this off-season between Season 33 and Season 34 of our seasonal competitions! The 16th iteration of Ultiduo run by ozfortress, aptly named Ultiduo 16, will be a three day event. This time around we're making some important changes to not only the format, but schedule and competition length. Moving forward we are looking to slowly do-away with traditional one-night cups as you have experienced in the past, and move to tournaments that fill more time during the off-season, and give players something to look forward to in the off-seasons rather than just reforming their seasonal roster for the next season!

For Ultiduo 16, there will be two skill brackets, Division 1 and Division 2. There will be two Group Stages days, Day 1 will be for Division 2 on Sunday the 24th of April, with Day 2 being for Division 1 on Monday the 25th of April. Day 3 will be the Playoffs for both skill brackets, on Tuesday the 26th of April. Make sure to check the Schedule linked at the bottom of the tournament page.

Group Stages will be using the Swiss system, with Playoffs using either Page Playoffs or Single Elimination depending on the amount of teams that sign up. Expect the Swiss Group Stages to feature five matches with decent breaks in-between. Expected match duration for each game is around 10-20 minutes max, so we have allowed for more time in-between than in the past and also allowed time for teams to book their own servers and play.

All Swiss Group Stage matches will be played as a Best-of-1 on the new ultiduo_ozf_r, and all Playoffs matches will be played as a Best of 3, also on ultiduo_ozf_r.

We will be using a newer version and retheme of the original koth_ultiduo_r_b7, updated and rethemed by skaz! Be sure to checkout ultiduo_ozfortress_r when it becomes available to download!

You can sign up for ozfortress Ultiduo 16 from now (Sunday the 17th of April) up until Friday the 22nd of April 2022 at 11:59PM AEST. We aim to have seeding out by Saturday the 23rd of April (at the latest) with the tournament starting on the 24th of April.

[Sign up to Ultiduo 16!]

Match Procedure

When each round starts, matches will be generated. Teams will need to communicate who will be booking the server, with the base expectation that the Home team will book the server (see the Bookable Servers category below for more information on this). Teams will need to both load the map, and execute the config before playing. We have allowed for extra time between matches, but the scheduling will still be fairly tight.

Please start each game as soon as possible as there is a tight schedule for the Group Stages and Playoffs. If the other team has not shown up five minutes after the server has been booked, message an administrator to claim your forfeit win.

After the match is over, please submit / confirm the scores IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE MATCH IS OVER. Posting of logs is not mandatory but logs will be used for solving disputes.

Bookable Servers

Server booking can be done via the ozfortress discord once again, praise be to the almighty Reginald. Simply join the #bookings channel in the ozfortress Discord and type /booking create, follow the prompts and details of your server booking will be DM'd to you. You can also book a server via Qixalite's Discord, using their #tf2-booking channel, and execute the same commands to change the map and config.

Using your bookable server

Changing the map to ozfortress Ultiduo map:

rcon changelevel ultiduo_ozf_r

Executing the Ultiduo config on your bookable server:

rcon ozf-ud-ultiduo

These commands will work on both ozfortress and Qixalite servers.

How to; Create a Team, Join a Team, and Sign up!

On the ozfortress website, captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, captains can invite players to the team. Team invites are shown on a player's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right-hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a pool of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be in the pool for multiple teams but only one active roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a roster for tournaments under the league page.

If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the #recruitment section of the ozfortress Discord where you can express your interest in joining a team, or peruse potential players to form a team of your own. Teams are normally comprised of one Medic, one Demoman, two Soldiers and two Scouts. If you're new to the competitive scene, click here for an introduction to ozfortress!

Once you've signed up your team or have joined one, your part is done. Don't worry if you didn't find or join a team in time, you can always be transferred onto a team in one of the Transfer Windows. See the Transfers link for more info on Transfers, and the Transfers Window link for info on when these windows are, both links can be found at the bottom.

Please ensure you have enough backups to last the season; teams are allowed a maximum of ten players rostered on for any single tournament.

Reminders

  • During Ultiduo 16, we plan on monitoring to ensure players are recording demos. Please ensure that you are recording match demos in order to avoid punishment.
  • If you are unsure on whether or not something is considered a game exploit, contact a League Administrator for clarification. Ignorance is not an excuse.

The Group Stages will be conducted using Swiss, with Playoffs making use of either Single Elimination or Page Playoffs depending on the amount of signups.

Are we allowed substitutes or mercenaries?
No, both substitute players and mercenaries will not be allowed for the event. If one player on the team becomes unavailable, please contact an administrator as soon as possible, and preferably before the tournament starts.

How long can pauses last for?
Pauses for this tournament must not last longer than three minutes. If there are any complications, contact your bracket's administrator.
