Thread: An update on the future of ozfortress servers
catfish Head Administrator

Recently, ozfortress made public the issues that we were having with our servers and hosting. These issues can be found in this post here. Now, one month later, we are able to share the future of ozfortress servers going forward.

ozfortress servers

Previously, was being hosted by Infinite in Canberra. As this deal has come to an end, we have changed our server host and location. From today onwards will be kindly hosted by Sol1 in Sydney. This will make accessing the physical server easier for ozfortress staff, and provide better ping for players connecting from Sydney. Thank you to exe for very generously helping us out at Sol1, and thank you to /dev/zero for driving to Canberra to collect the server and deliver it to Sydney.
While our previous setup with Infinite was free of charge, we will be covering the cost of the hosting expenses for Sol1. This includes things like power and bandwidth. In order to do this, we must ask for the community’s assistance.

Introducing the ozfortress Patreon

The ozfortress Patreon will aim to help ozfortress staff cover the cost of the hosting the ozfortress servers. By achieving our $50/month goal, we will be able to secure our server hosting for years to come. Any additional money raised will be funneled back into the community in various forms. This could be through upgrading existing ozfortress infrastructure, providing prize pools for ozfortress competitions or other community benefits. NONE of the money raised will go directly to ozfortress administrators. ozfortress aims to meet our $50 AUD/month goal. That is our primary focus. Any other additional funds raised will be considered a bonus, we are not expecting the community to meet all of our subsequent goals.

Unfortunately, the forums on will still be going down at the end of the month. It will be replaced by an archived version of the site going under the domain In order to replace, we are going to enable forums on Warzone very soon. Message an administrator if you have any particular forums or topics you would like to see on Warzone. Thank you to everyone involved with helping us set this up, we’ll see you all for OZF 23!

We are continuing with the reordered version of the maps that we established in season 21. Expect the rotation to be shuffled around every 3 seasons (annually).

Logjam: New addition

Prolands: Updated from b4b to b6

New versions of all maps have been pushed to the ozfortress servers.

  • Added: The maximum number of mercinaries a team is allow to have at any given time has been adjusted to two.
  • Added: Failure to submit demos when requested by an administrator will now result in a 4-week ban. This has been upped from the previous 2-week ban.

  • Pauses may now be tactical as well as technical (any type of pause will draw from the permitted 10 minutes of pause time for each team).

  • Transfers is three part process! It is not as simple as just inviting a player. You must APPLY for the transfer.
  • Deadline for match time to be organised is Sunday 7PM.
  • Use the proper map version and remember to exec config! As simple as 'rcon ozf' or 'rcon ozfkoth'.
  • No draws on maps (i.e. 3-3 on Granary) - Golden Cap must be played in this situation. However, match draws are accepted (1 map win for each team). The config for Golden Cap is 'rcon golden'.
  • If your game is casted by an approved casting organisation, proper aliases are required. There are now infractions for disobeying this rule.
  • Post logs and submit/verify scores after each match. This applies to both the home and away team.
  • Two forfeits and your team will be removed from the league. The season is a short seven weeks and two forfeits is more than reasonable.

In Citadel, Captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, Captains can invite players to the Team. Team invites are shown on a player's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a pool of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be in the pool for multiple teams but only one Roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a Roster for tournaments under the League page.

If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the #recruitment section of the ozfortress Discord where you can express your interest in joining a team, or peruse potential players to form a team of your own. Teams are normally comprised of 1 Medic, 1 Demoman, 2 Soldiers and 2 Scouts. If you're new to the competitive scene, click here for an introduction to ozfortress!
