Christmas in July, it's coming...
And as our special present to you all, we're bringing you another LAN in 2023! Get ready for a jam-packed weekend hosted in Melbourne, Victoria. Welcome back to the LAN Downunder! This July, 12 teams from around the region will come together to fight for a lion's share of $2,000 AUD, thanks to our sponsor marketplace.tf.
Based on community polls we've heard you loud and clear that you're hungry for another LAN this year in Melbourne, so here's your invitation to come and join the fun on Saturday the 8th & Sunday the 9th of July. We'd love to have you all, no matter if you want to carefully curate the best team you can, make a relaxed fun team or just spectate to see the madness unfold and meet people. There's something here for everyone!
This tournament will be using the ruleset, whitelist and maps from ozfortress Season 37.
The LAN Downunder 2023 will be held at the GIC Arena, 15 Sutherland St, Melbourne VIC 3000, and you can see the venue for yourself here.
Tickets and registration
Teams can register through the ozfortress page where the event tournament will be hosted. There is a maximum of 12 teams that can compete up to this tournament due to limitations on time and PC availability. Once you've signed up your team or have joined one, you must purchase a Player ticket. If you do not you will be removed from the roster at the closing of sign-ups. Players will receive access to 1 PC and monitor, as well as a keyboard, mouse and headset. You are welcome to bring your own peripherals however we do not have the equipment or space for BYOC. Players must prepare a USB with their HUD and config so that it can be uploaded to the PC quickly. By purchasing a ticket and entering the premises, you agree to the Conditions of Entry.
Players: please try to fly-in by Friday afternoon as we will be having a media day.
Spectators also need to purchase a ticket to maintain safe capacity in the venue. Spectators will be given access to all player floors as well as a viewing area of the broadcast.

Attendees are encouraged to be up to date with all recommended COVID-19 vaccines to prevent exposure.
The LAN Downunder will be using ozfortress Season 37's map pool.

We hear you. Unfortunately, the price for the venue has increased since LAN Downunder 2022. Hosting a 2 day tournament in the current economic climate is difficult. We don't make a profit off of these events, but we can't continue to organise LANs if we're running at a loss, which is why we had to raise the ticket price.

Door sales will not be available, you must purchase a ticket online to play in the tournament or attend as a spectator.
After purchasing a ticket above, captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page of the ozfortress website. Once created, captains can invite players to the team. Team invites are shown on a player's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right-hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a pool of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be in the pool for multiple teams but only one active roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a roster for tournaments under the league page.
If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the Recruitment category of the ozfortress Discord where you can express your interest in joining a team, or peruse potential players to form a team of your own. Teams are normally comprised of one Medic, one Demoman, two Soldiers and two Scouts. If you're new to the competitive scene, click here for an introduction to ozfortress!
Once you've signed up your team or have joined one, and purchased a ticket here, your part is done.
