ozfortress: A Midsummer Night's Highlander Cup 2023

Completed

Welcome back!

Let's start 2023 off right - ozfortress presents A Midsummer Night's Highlander Cup 2023! We've seen interest arise in new mapping ventures by community mappers, so this time we're doing our Midsummer Night's Cups a little differently. We're running both a Sixes and Highlander iteration of the cup to provide everyone with a chance to trial the shortlisted maps that could make it into next season!

We will be testing four maps, new servers and new plugins in this cup. You can find more info on each below.

Signups

You can sign up for A Midsummer Night's Highlander Cup 2023 from Sunday 12th of February, up until Tuesday 28th of February. We aim to have seeding out Thursday the 2nd of March before the cup starts, with the cup being split up into two days, Friday the 3rd of March and Saturday the 4th of March.

Please see the signup agreement at the bottom of the page for further information on helping us out with seedings!

Schedule & Format

All group stage matches on Day 1 will be played as best-of-ones with predetermined maps. There will be four matches that will decide the seeding for the playoffs on Day 2. The top four teams from the group stages will go through to the playoffs on Day 2. All playoff matches will be single elimination and best-of-threes with predetermined maps.

There is no ABBA in A Midsummer Night's Highlander Cup 2023, meaning all Payload/Stopwatch is played as a Best of 1/One Half.

Day 1 - Friday the 3rd of March (Group Stage, BO1)

Day 2 - Saturday the 4th of March (Playoffs: Page Playoffs matches are BO1, Semi-Finals & Grand Finals are BO3)

All custom maps can be downloaded from our own FastDL site, found here.

A Midsummer Night's Highlander Cup will feature the following four maps, and their poll interest percentage is included next to them.

  • Proot (58.1%)
  • Cornwater (48.4%)
  • Rapids (41.9%)
  • Ramjam (N/A)

Three of the four maps above were chosen directly from the most popular options on our Season 2 Post Season Poll, voted by our players. Our fourth map Ramjam has been added by the admin team to round out the map pool, and test Ramjam's chances of seeing a season. This version of Ramjam is known as V2, and is a continuation/spiritual successor from the same author Jusa.

Players will be able to rate all four of the maps in a follow-up poll.

We ask that you reach out via our #highlander-supportchannel in our Discord before asking an administrator directly.

By signing up, you acknowledge that you may be placed in any division the administrators deem fit for your roster, and thus your entire team should be reasonable in their expectations on division placement. We will endeavour to let teams know of changes in initial seedings before the final release. Please ensure you specify the division you truly believe your team should be in, this will make it easier for administrators to consult with you on your seeding. Along with selecting your desired division, please also list who you expect to play, and what class/role. We've left a template below, please include it in your signup application's description.

On the ozfortress website, captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, captains can invite players to the team. Team invites are shown on a player's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right-hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a pool of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be in the pool for multiple teams but only one active roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a roster for tournaments under the league page.

If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the Recruitment category of the ozfortress Discord where you can express your interest in joining a team, or peruse potential players to form a team of your own. Highlander teams are comprised of one of each class, forming a team of nine. If you're new to the competitive scene, click here for an introduction to ozfortress!

Once you've signed up your team or have joined one, your part is done. Don't worry if you didn't find or join a team in time, you can always be transferred onto a team in one of the Transfer Windows. See the Transfers link for more info on Transfers, and the Transfers Window link for info on when these windows are, both links can be found at the bottom.

Please ensure you have enough backups to last the entire cup; teams are allowed a maximum of eight (8) players rostered.

    • A: Team roster limit is set at twelve players per roster.
  • Q: What are the mercenary rules?
    • A: Mercenaries need to be approved by an administrator, and should be used sparingly.

Reminders

  • During A Midsummer Night's Highlander Cup 2023 we plan on conducting random demo checks to ensure players are recording POV demos. Please ensure that you are recording match demos in order to avoid punishment.
  • If you are unsure whether something is considered a game exploit, contact a League Administrator for clarification. Ignorance is not an excuse.
  • Please do not delay your match in any way as a courtesy to your opponent. If there is an issue preventing you from sticking to the schedule, please make administrators aware!
