After a fantastic OZF 23, we are happy to announce the event of this holiday season - ozfortress Presents: A Midsummer Night's Cup 2019, where teams will compete over two separate one-night cups in multiple brackets. Midsummer Night's Cup 1 will be held on the 16th of December and Midsummer Night's Cup 2 will follow in mid-January.
The cups are designed to be a casual, laid-back event for over the summer, especially after three seasons of the flagship league run back to back. Focusing on a relaxed experience, there will be three brackets - Premier, Intermediate and Open. Premier and Intermediate will have 8 teams while Open will have 16, signups permitting. All brackets will be a single elimination bracket, over a single night.
Each match will be a best-of-one with maps being set, using a win-difference of 5 / 30 minutes format. King of the Hill maps are played to a first to three format.
Ties are not allowed, and can be resolved by Golden Cap, which is first to 1 / 10 minutes. If no one caps last at the end of 10 minutes, the team that owns the middle point will be declared the winner.
For the first cup, we welcome the return of some maps we have seen on ozfortress servers in the past, most notably cp_metalworks and cp_reckoner. We are also seeing the return of koth_bagel, a map that has featured in A Midsummer Night's Cup in the past. Making their ozfortress debuts will be koth_waterton and koth_synthetic! These two King of the Hill maps are very promising and we're excited to see how they play!
Unfortunately, as this is a One Night Cup, there will be NO badges for this event.
As the schedule for this tournament is tight, teams must be ready with at least 5 rostered players in the server by the round start time. If a team is more than FIVE minutes late, your bracket's league administrator MUST be contacted and a forfeit win will be recorded. DO NOT DELAY YOUR MATCH AS A COURTESY TO A LATE TEAM. ONE DELAYED MATCH DELAYS THE WHOLE TOURNAMENT. Note that 5CP matches can go for 40 minutes with a Golden Cap, so this must be followed closely.
ozfortress servers will be used for this competition, but they will be distributed by ozfortress League Administrators through Warzone. Be sure to be in the ozfortress Discord for ease of communication.
Since there are multiple brackets, all administrators will be separated into respective brackets much like the seasonal league. League administrators and their respective brackets will be announced when signups have ended.
In Warzone, captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, captains can invite players to the team. Team invites are shown on a player's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a pool of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be in the pool for multiple teams but only one roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a roster for tournaments under the league page.
If you are using an existing team, you do not have to recreate your team again! Simply sign up your A Midsummer Night's Cup 2019 roster using your existing team!
The ruleset for the Midsummer Night's Cups differ slightly from the ruleset used in the regular seasonal leagues. Be sure to have a read of the changes to make sure you are up to date. These have been outlined in the following posts and also in the FAQ.
If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the #recruitment section of the ozfortress Discord where you can express your interest in joining a team, or peruse potential players to form a team of your own. Teams are normally comprised of 1 Medic, 1 Demoman, 2 Soldiers and 2 Scouts. If you're new to the competitive scene, click here for an introduction to ozfortress! Whether you're a veteran or new to the scene, get on a team and come play!
We are really keen to get this out for people to know about this - form your teams, and get ready to play some great TF2. Signups are open now, right up until Friday the 14th of December at 11:59 PM

Match
Congratulations to The Big Monstrosity on winning the OZF 23 Open Grand Final against N1nja Death Squad.
The series began on the newest addition to the ozfortress map pool: Logjam. The pick of The Big Monstrosity, they quickly showed dominance with two extremely fast round wins. N1nja Death Squad were able to answer back however, and after some back and forth brawling between the two teams they were able to claim two rounds of their own and equalise the scores. Despite this resistance, N1nja Death Squad were unable to stop the dominating performance of Johnny and The Big Monstrosity took the next four rounds in a row, taking the map 6 - 2.
N1nja Death Squad picked Process and immediately sent a statement to The Big Monstrosity after taking the first round in only one minute and thirty-six seconds. The next three rounds were much more hard-fought, but N1nja Death Squad were able to claim them all, ultimately winning the map 4 - 0 thanks to impressive performances from their Scout combo of K1ng and chill.
The last map of the series was Gullywash, and The Big Monstrosity looked reinvigorated. Despite the defenses of N1nja Death Squad, The Big Monstrosity were able to claim the first four rounds of the map. With no time left for a comeback, The Big Monstrosity were able to claim the map 4 - 0 and the series 2 - 1 and become your ozfortress season 23 Open Champions!
Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Stay tuned for A Midsummer Night's Cup 2019!

Match
Congratulations to League of Super Evil on winning the OZF 23 Intermediate Grand Final against twitch.tv/sskaz.
The series began on Product, the map pick of League of Super Evil. The first round saw back and forth caps, with the point being traded multiple times. Despite a strong performance from twitch.tv/sskaz, League of Super Evil eventually took the round in a close fashion. The second round was no different with both teams putting up a fight and each controlling durations of the round. After a nail-biting finish, League of Super Evil were able to take the round in overtime, and extend their lead to 2 - 0. The third round was yet another close fought affair, however ultimately League of Super Evil were able to take the round and the map off of a dominating 473 DPM performance from Yop..
We then went into Gullywash, the pick of twitch.tv/sskaz. Both teams were playing passively, resulting in a 12 minute-long first round that almost saw the round timer reset. Eventually League of Super Evil prevailed, and went 1 - 0 up on the first map. Both teams continued the passive play of the first round into the second, however twitch.tv/sskaz were able to find their footing and claim their first round of the series and take the map to 1 - 1 after another 12 minute-long round. With less than five minutes on the clock, the map was anyone's game. Both teams began playing with more aggression, with twitch.tv/sskaz almost taking the round if it weren't for some last-minute Ubersaw heroics from rem. twitch.tv/sskaz were able to close out the round putting them up 2 - 1. With less than two minutes on the clock, League of Super Evil were forced to play with extreme aggression in order to equalise the scores. With such limited time their attempt proved unsuccessful and the map finished in favour of twitch.tv/sskaz, leveling the series and taking us to a final map.
The last map was Process, with both teams immediately playing a much faster play-style. League of Super Evil took the first two rounds in quick succession. twitch.tv/sskaz were able to answer back with a round of their own, but League of Super Evil proved to be too strong and took the next four rounds in a convincing fashion. With this League of Super Evil took the map 6 - 1 and the series 2 - 1 and became your ozfortress season 23 Intermediate champions!
Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Stay tuned for A Midsummer Night's Cup 2019!
