Keen for some fun TF2 over the summer break? We are happy to announce the event of this holiday season - ozfortress: A Midsummer Night's Cup 2018, where teams will compete over two separate one-night cups in two or three brackets. Midsummer Night's Cup 1 will be held on the 10th of December and Midsummer Night's Cup 2 will follow in mid-January.

The cups are designed to be a casual, laid-back event for over the summer, especially after three seasons of the flagship league run back to back. Focusing on a relaxed experience, there will be three brackets - Premier, Intermediate and Open. Premier and Intermediate will have 8 teams while Open will have 16, signups permitting. All brackets will be a single elimination bracket, over a single night.

Each match will be a best-of-one with maps being set, using a win-difference of 5 / 30 minutes format. King of the Hill maps are played to a first to three format.

Ties are not allowed, and can be resolved by Golden Cap, which is first to 1 / 10 minutes. If no one caps last at the end of 10 minutes, the team that owns the middle point will be declared the winner.

sage will be stepping down from the ozfortress admin team. We thank him for his past efforts and wish him well in the future.

For the first cup, we welcome the return of ozfortress's mirrored maps! Maps for the second night will be released closer to date and also based on feedback of the first night. The Grand Final of Premier and Intermediate will be played over three maps using a pick-ban system with a slightly modified version of the OZF 20 map pool.

Unfortunately, as these are One Night Cups, there will be NO badges for this Summer event.

As the schedule for this tournament is tight, teams must be ready with at least 5 rostered players in the server by the round start time. If a team is more than FIVE minutes late, your bracket's league administrator MUST be contacted and a forfeit win will be recorded. DO NOT DELAY YOUR MATCH AS A COURTESY TO A LATE TEAM. ONE DELAYED MATCH DELAYS THE WHOLE TOURNAMENT. Note that 5CP matches can go for 40 minutes with a Golden Cap, so this must be followed closely.

ozfortress servers will be used for this competition, but they will be distributed by ozfortress League Administrators through Citadel. Be sure to be in the ozfortress Discord for ease of communication.

Since there are multiple brackets, all administrators will be separated into respective brackets like the seasonal league. League administrators and their respective brackets will be announced when signups have ended.

In Citadel, captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, captains can invite players to the team. Team invites are shown on a player's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a pool of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be in the pool for multiple teams but only one roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a roster for tournaments under the league page.

If you are using an existing team, you do not have to recreate your team again! Simply sign up your A Midsummer Night's Cup 2018 roster using your existing team.

The ruleset for the Midsummer Night's Cups differ slightly from the ruleset used in the regular seasonal leagues. Be sure to have a read of the changes to make sure you are up to date. These have been outlined in the following posts and also in the FAQ.

If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the #recruitment section of the ozfortress Discord where you can express your interest in joining a team, or peruse potential players to form a team of your own. Teams are normally comprised of 1 Medic, 1 Demoman, 2 Soldiers and 2 Scouts. If you're new to the competitive scene, click here for an introduction to ozfortress! Whether you're a veteran or new to the scene, get on a team and come play!

We are really keen to get this out for people to know about this - form your teams, and get ready to play some great TF2. Signups are open now, right up until Friday the 8th of December at 11:59 PM!

To gain a better grasp of the current opinions of the community, we're running a poll. The poll shouldn't take more than 5, and includes questions on maps, unlocks and more. Although the results will be made public at a later date, they are not reflective of any possible changes.

It would be greatly appreciated if you take the time to express your views so we can make ozfortress better!

This is a very short poll. There will be another one after the completion of the first summer cup.

Congratulations Premier winners The Sauce

Prolands - 2 - 1
Snakewater - 4 - 2
Process - 2 - 1

Congratulations to The Sauce on winning the OZF 20 Premier Grand Final against Mad Men.

We started off this series on Prolands, a map both teams were strong and familiar with. In just the first round we saw many fights, holds, offclasses and a couple of Über drops as it spanned a ludicrous 25 minutes without either side earning a round. Both teams battled on every part of the map until finally Mad Men pushed their enemies back to last. Holding lobby and waiting for an opening, Mad Men witnessed 2 of The Sauce's players time out of the server, including their Medic, Arnold. With an uber advantage found through divine intervention, Mad Men proceeded to push into last and take the first round. Being down 1-0 with only 5 minutes left on the clock The Sauce fired back and with a lot of effort and team play managed to push from second to the lobby of Mad Men. The Sauce with only a minute to work with and a Kritz in hand, attempted a lower push but it proved difficult as they lost most of their players with barely any return. It was dire with only 40 seconds left and The Sauce had to bring it back to a tie. In a play nobody expected, Elmo spawned as Spy and The Sauce rushed back to lobby to make a final stand. Elmo broke through lower and his team followed behind him. In an awkward place, Elmo went for a sap on the sentry of Hertz and in the commotion of the push, was also able to connect a backstab onto Enrith. With only 15 seconds left, The Sauce stormed the point. Down a Demoman, the remaining Mad Men players tried their best to block the point and get any damage they could. Trades went to both sides in a giant spamfest, the smoke and rubble cleared to show the players of The Sauce cleaning up the cap with only 10 seconds in the round remaining they did the impossible and forced Golden Cap.

After a short break, the Golden Cap was under way and The Sauce came into the mid with extreme soldier aggression. Apart from lock managing to sneak out of house, The Sauce had a fairly spotless mid, They pushed forward yet again, taking Mad Men to last and after a short stalemate, the teams traded Übers in lobby. Now in the favour of Mad Men and with a Hertz on engineer, Mad Men felt confident to take some ground and attempted cap second. The players of Mad Men forwarded out of lobby and left Hertz and his sentry to defend last alone. However Geoh was able to slink through the flank. Managing to avoid the sentry's view, Geoh took to the point, Hertz dropped down to stop him but was unsuccessful. As such, Geoh took the Golden Cap for The Sauce.

Snakewater went under way as a pick of The Sauce and the history of their play on the map definitely gave Mad Men something to worry about. The first mid began and was taken by Mad Men. However after the first fight, it was feared we might see a mirror of last map, as things slowed down and neither team could quite grab enough of an advantage to take the round. However, a fight on Mad Men's second point went sour as a great bomb from Riot took 3 kills. With 2 people left to defend last The Sauce walked in and took the first round after 13 minutes. The next round began with Mad Men losing the mid, and being pushed back to last with an Über disadvantage. The Sauce pushed through with their Über advantage and took 4 kills. It looked dire for Mad Men and ultimately lost the round. Unable to gain an advantage, Mad Men lost yet another round just 6 minutes later. With their backs to a wall, Mad Men shot back and gained a round. The fire did not cease as they returned, winning another quick round in 5 minutes leaving the series at a 3-2 in the favour of The Sauce. With the possibility of a comeback in the air the mid had a lot hanging on it. The Sauce showed that the Mad Men are not the only ones to be feared as we saw a very quick round, with The Sauce taking the second map in the series.

The third map would be Process. This map was unbelievably close in the UBF and that would not change as the first round was a constant back and forth showing both teams strengths. Mad Men had to win this to stay in and showed a lot of early aggression in this first round. Mad Men took the first mid and forced The Sauce to board up at last. A stalemate ensued until Elmo connected a headshot and The Sauce took an opportunity to push out, but it was thwarted and left The Sauce extremely vulnerable, down 3 players. Mad Men pushed through lobby and after a scrappy fight, to take an early one round lead. The next mid went under way and The Sauce made sure to give their opponents no room to breathe, bringing them to 1-1 in 2 minutes. At this point in the series, both teams played very carefully, with neither team wanting to give any advantages away. After 16 minutes of back and forth play across the map The Sauce left Mad Men holding their last. With 2 minutes left on the clock The Sauce broke back with their Über advantage they took the map to 2-1. Mad Men had 1 minute to make the hero play and bring it back to a tie, but fell short as The Sauce took the last map, earning them the title of OZF 20's Premier Champions.

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Stay tuned for the Summer!

Congratulations Intermediate winners spn 70kg fatty

Gullywash- 3 - 0
Snakewater - 4 - 1

Congratulations to spn 70kg fatty on winning the OZF 20 Intermediate Grand Final against Questionable.

The first map of the series started off on Gullywash, it began with a bit of a back and forth but at the 5 minute mark spn 70 took their first round and point. The next round started off with spn 70 taking the mid point and bringing their team all the way to lobby, where we saw offclasses to Sniper and Pyros in an attempt to break the stalemate. Just when it looked like time was about to stand still, Questionable took an aggresive Über straight through river. spn 70 managed to defend this and repush last with a large Über advantage and take another round. With a 2-0 deficit, Questionable tried their hardest and gave us a 12 minute round of team fights and Über pushes. Sadly for them, it wasn't enough as with well coordinated team play and good pushes, spn 70 brought themselves to the last point and took yet another round winning Gullywash with a 3-0 Scoreline.

After a short break the second map Snakewater was under way, Once again spn 70 showed their prowess and proceeded to take 2 rounds in 6 minutes, giving Questionable very little room to breathe. Determined however, Questionable showed they weren't going to roll over and give spn 70 any more easy rounds. They adjusted their play and took fights all over the map for a 16 minute brawl that ultimately lead to Questionable holding last with even Übers. Beep managed to connect a nice shot onto seraph but in the resulting Über trade in lobby Questionable lost decap and Zildjian, allowing the Über of spn 70 to walk into last and grab yet another round.

Things were looking dire for Questionable as they had yet to take a single round in the series, but with their backs to the wall they fired back quickly taking a very dominant mid to last round in just 1 minute.

There was potential for a comeback and high hopes coming into the next mid but much to the dismay of Questionable, the mid did not go as well as the previous fight and after a 4 minute bash spn 70 took yet another round bringing it to a 4-1 with only 2 minutes left on the clock. Questionable cut their losses and 'gg' was called as spn 70 claimed their gold as the OZF 20 Intermediate Champions.

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Stay tuned for the Summer!

Congratulations Open winners Starburst-6s!

Process - 1 - 0
Gullywash - 6 - 1

Congratulations to Starburst-6s on winning the OZF 20 Open Grand Final against Rise Reborn.

The first map of the series was Process, the map pick of Starburst-6s. It was a close fought affair, with points constantly exchanging between the two teams, however Starburst-6s were able to just scrape out a round, taking their map pick 1 – 0. The next map was Rise Reborn’s pick, Gullywash. Rise Reborn came out to a strong start on their map pick, taking the first round. However the strength of Starburst-6s quickly overwhelmed them, as Starburst were able to string together the next six rounds, taking the map 6 – 1, and the series 2 – 0.

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Stay tuned for the Summer!
