Another season?! We are happy to announce that ozfortress season 17, the flagship competitive TF2 event for the Oceanic region, is right around the corner! Once again using the highly successful league system: Citadel. Teams of all skill levels are encouraged to signup and play.

Just like last season, OZF 17 will feature 3 divisions: Premier, Intermediate and Open. Premier will have a round robin group stage into page playoffs. The lower two divisions will consist of a Swiss group stage leading into a single elimination finals bracket. Bronze matches will be for Intermediate and Open only. For those wanting to know more about Swiss, check this out.

This season, we also welcome two new members to the ozfortress staff - Fozzlm and wiggin. Fozzlm will be managing Intermediate with the help of shrak, as well as upholding the Media Coordinator role. wiggin will be administering Open along with Hawk.

In Citadel, Captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, Captains can invite a user to the Team. Team invites are shown on a user's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a bucket of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be on multiple teams but only one Roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a Roster for tournaments under the League page.

If you are using an existing team, you do not have to recreate your team again! Simply sign up your OZF 17 roster using your existing team.

Grand Finals of Premier will be played as a no-advantage best of 5, but Open and Intermediate Grand Finals remain a best of 3. Division size limits for Premier and Intermediate are pending signups. Open will have an unrestricted number of teams.

Some ruleset changes have been made this season. Be sure to have a read of the changes to make sure you are up to date.

If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the recruitment section where you can find or form a team. Teams are normally comprised of 1 Medic, 1 Demoman, 2 Soldiers and 2 Scouts. This season we will be much stricter on mercenary usage so ensure you have enough backups to last you the season.

The Advisor program will not continue on in OZF 17. For any queries, use #help in Discord and queries will be answered.

TFLIVE will be coming back strong this season. All of the Premier division content you could even want will be streamed live. If you're looking for past matches to get a feel for the game, they can be found on the TFLIVE YouTube. However, the best way to learn the game is usually to just start playing. Whether you're a veteran or new to the scene, get on a team and come play!

You can sign up right now until Friday the 23rd of September at midnight, with the season starting on Sunday 25th of September 2016.

CITADEL CHANGES

When signing up, teams must select at least three days (out of the five from Sunday to Thursday) that they are available. What if my team's availability changes? Fear not, you will be able to change your available days on a week to week basis. You will be allowed to change these times from Thursday afternoon from 4PM to Saturday 8PM before each round stars.

Since each team picks a minimum of three days out of the five, there will be at least one day that teams are mutually free. This will be set as the default day. THIS DAY IS NOT FORCED. You are allowed to negotiate a match time just like the previous seasons. However, if your match is not organised by the deadline of Sunday 7:00PM, this default day will be forced upon you as both teams should be available. This change was created to make organising matches easier for both players and administrators.

Match pages are posted Friday 12:00AM so this gives more than enough time to negotiate.

RULE CHANGES AND IMPORTANT NOTES

RULE CHANGES
  • Only one mercenary per team is allowed in each match. Each team is allowed to use mercenaries three times per season. Administrators shall no longer be permitting 2 mercenaries under any circumstances. We suggest you load up your roster as you can sign up with more than 10 players.
  • Negotiating match times is now different. See post above.
  • Global whitelist in effect.
  • Weapon exchange and pickup is allowed.
  • Pauses are now restricted to two pauses per team per match with a combined total time limit of ten minutes. However, if captains are in agreement, the pause limit can be extended.
  • Demos are required to be stored for the current and past season (from now onwards).

IMPORTANT NOTES TO REMEMBER (THESE ALREADY EXISTED)
  • Transfers is three part process! It is not as simple as just inviting a player. You must APPLY for the transfer.
  • There is no Bronze match for Premier.
  • Deadline for match time to be organised is Sunday 7PM.
  • You may sign up for a league with more than 10 people. This will help greatly with roster issues.
  • Use the proper map version and remember to exec config! As simple as 'rcon ozf' or 'rcon ozfkoth'.
  • No draws on maps (i.e. 3-3 on Granary) - Golden Cap must be played in this situation. However, match draws are accepted (1 map win for each team).
  • If your game is casted, proper aliases.
  • Post logs and submit/verify scores after each match PLEASE.
  • Two forfeits and your team will be removed from the league. The season is a short seven and two forfeits is more than reasonable.

MAP CHANGES SINCE LAST SEASON

Snakewater: From default Snakewater (cp_snakewater_final1) to updated Snakewater (cp_snakewater_u13).
Reckoner: Updated from b2a to b3.
Granary: Updated from b3 to b4.

New versions of the maps have been pushed to the ozfortress servers. The old versions of Reckoner and Granary will be removed from the servers on Friday to prevent confusion and incorrect use of maps.

I don't like these changes. No one uses mercs because they want to, they use them because subs don't grow on trees and people have lives. There are going to be plenty of forced 5v6 rolls later in the season if this is enforced. As for pauses, the natural consequence of this rule is that dicks are going to try to force forfeits because of players who timeout or are lagging badly on match night.

Yeah on second thought this even dumber this season runs through the exam period, we've had all of two weeks to find subs and less than one knowing about these stupid rules, and you expect teams to only use 3 mercs for the entire season? Some teams are probably going to be lucky if they don't need 3 mercs a week later on in the season. Please fix that rule it's stupid.

I know where you're coming from but i feel like this is really going to hinder the lower teams, if you're a new team going to compete the chances are you don't have THAT many contacts, so therefor you're forced to use a few mercs during the season... possible a rule that needs to be re-wired for the lower divisions to allow less stress for the up and coming tf2 players.

As always, if you have any issues with scheduling and a possible need for a merc, talk to your divisional admin asap and we will work with you

So are these new rules actually rules or are they going to be broken every time someone comes complaining to you guys, at your discretion obviously so if you don't like someone you can say no to them...? This is just dumb on so many levels.
