I haven't bought a new game for ages and have been a busy and productive member of society selling drugs to the needy and teaching the future generations how to speak English good like. So I thought it would be a good idea to go over some of the games that really made a mark in my memory and raised me to be a homicidal maniac. Feel free to post some of your own nostalgic games that didnt make my list. Now in no particular order:

This game was by far one of my favorites as a kid. Infact it still is one of my favorites, I was playing this bad ass game just a few weeks ago with a couple of mates. Halo 3? Battlefield 3? Diablo 3? fuck that shit, we are gonna play Spyro the motherfucking dragon!
The game play was never dull, if there was a zombie apocalypse and I was gonna be stuck in my basement for a few weeks this game would be on the top of my list. The level designs were great and collecting all the gems was always a fun challenge.

I will have to say that this is my all time favorite game. It has the most indepth and unique story line of any game I have ever played. The story was heart wrenching and made you love the characters and their backgrounds were all intriguing. The characters were all great in their own way and it was alway a hard choice to pick your members, my favorite was generally Cloud, Vincent and Cid. It has lots of replay value with hundreds of different spells and party combinations. It also has Sephiroth in it, the most bad ass and crazy dude you will ever meet. He had some serious fucking problems.

A shooter ahead of its time. Amazing weapon designs each with a unique function and style that had you playing the game for hours. The various different bot types was always a fun challenge, those revenge bots were a bunch of dicks. The best guns in my opintion were the Cyclone, Mauler and The Pheonix. Just looking at screenshots of this game makes me want to hop on ebay and buy a copy of it.

A game I am sure most of us have played this, theres not much to talk about that we dont already know. This game was such a huge part of my child hood I remember it like it was yesterday. I was around 7 years old and my mum took me to the Maquarie shopping centre. It was my birthday so she bought me Pokemon Red, Yellow and the new Pokemon Gameboy, that blue and yellow one with all the pokemon on it. It was my first gaming console and game. I was also ecstatic at the fact that on that same day there was this huge set up in the centre of the shopping mall were they were giving away few Mews. It was the greatest birthday ever.

The first PC game I ever owned, I got it from my uncle and I still play it regularly to this day. A great D&D based game that has massive amounts of detail and story line to it. It was the game that taught me how to multi task, what with having to control 4 character and their large array of spells in real time combat (Gods praise the pause button).

Honorable Mentions:

I am sure I have missed alot of obvious ones that everyone knows, Super Mario Party, Super Mario Kart, Banjo Kazooie, Croc, Zelda etc. But these were probably the ones that had the greatest impact on me. Lets hear yours!

Mentioning PD but not GoldenEye 2012

I'll post some of my favourites:

First game I played iirc

Dad wouldn't let me play this because it was "too violent" - often snuck on his computer to play it (Let me play Duke3D though, o_O?)

Only game my very first computer had

No shit.

Plenty of mad to be had here when I was younger

Dad bought me a gameboy bundled with this, played the hell out of it yet never finished it.

And too many others

I was gonna mention Golden Eye actually, but I figures 1 fps would make the cut, and that was Perfect Dark.

And fuck I forgot about Red Alert, that game was amazing.

Colonization (please tell me somebody else has played this too?), Diablo, Crash Bandicoot, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Super Mario Land (gameboy). I'm pretty young but being poor we were behind in the technology department, so I grew up playing games from before my time. I miss being a kid.

I fully support this thread.

also, these were the games that I used to only play when I went to my mates place. cause he had a sega. the n64 and ps games have already been posted. then again, what about crash team racing? a more violent version then mario kart!

can't go past the original mortal kombat, it had violence, it had scorpion going, GET OVER HERE and COME HERE. upper cuts, summasaulting kicks and punches in mid air and the all important Raiden flying across the map screaming ALELELEAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAH! it's great that it's still on mame32 for play

words are not necessary to explain why this was a great game.

fun, different, best part was when you were able to get on the dragon / velociraptor and start kicking the utter shit out of guys!

Man I wish they'd remake FFVII so I can play it again, I can't bring myself to play the shithouse PC port as it has aged horribly.

star wars on gameboy: my first game ever. unfortunately it didn't have a save (or at least i never figured out how to save) so everytime i played it i would have to start from the beginning. got up to millenium falcon they gave up because i went too far to play again.

i wonder if anyone has played.

i made an ebay account two years ago just to buy this game because of the nostalgia factor.

and goldeneye/PD are illegitimate brothers. you can't have one without the other. like jon snow and rob stark

RIP in peace RARE

I just started playing Pharaoh again the other day. Few more to add, Caesar 2/3 and AoE/Age of Mythology (perhaps my favouritest game).
