Custom Fortress League

The custom fortress league was a fun enjoyable competition run over a 10 week period showcasing more then 6 custom maps selected for competitive play. The primary objective of the competition was to showcase and test a selection of custom maps created by the wider tf2 community. The competition was run with pools for the preliminary rounds and a single elimination final.

The competition fulfilled its objectives by promoting maps and exposing teams to the concept of custom maps. Today there are many custom maps played by many teams throughout Australian Team Fortress.

The three competitions all ran with small variations allowing for a test bench of maps, formats and even a place to discuss map design. The Custom Fortress League setup allowed 'So You Think You Can Map', another competition, to be successfully run along side the CFL competition.

ultiduo
ultiduo is a 2v2 tournament where teams are comprised of a "Combo" (a soldier and a medic pair). Combo's duel each other in a specially designed arena, which forces them to rely on only their brute deathmatching skill and cunning.

The format produces the fastest paced action and close quarters contests of any tournament on the ozfortress calendar. The winners advance, the losers are immediately eliminated. At the end, the final combo take their place in ozfortress tournament history as ultiduo champions.

The battle lines are set, foes become friends, neighbours become allies. The competition where you greatness is dependent on where you rest your head. State of Origin allows you to play for state pride, without all the pretentious bullshit of inner clan politics. Ignore this competition at your peril, it's serious, deadly serious.

ozfortress cup 1
The ozfortress cup was an 8v8 competition open to both Australian and New Zealand clans, however numbers were limited to 32 clans. The cup followed a world cup format with 8 pools of 4 clans, all of which were seeded based on prior results from both the Gamearena Ladder and the previous NZFortress:Immolation competitions. The top two clans from each pool went through to single elimination rounds, eventually narrowing the field down to the best clan and consequently the ozfortress cup champions.

ozfortress cup 2
Designed with spectators and variety in mind this competition found out the best clans in Oceania heading into 2011. Wilcard matches took place between the 19th of December and the end of the year with the first round of the competition kicking off early in the new year.

Invitations were sent to the top 12 teams of 2010, while 8 wild card teams were left to fight over the final four positions in the competition.

ozfortress cup 3
The ozfortress cup 3 included 12 invited teams, leaving 16 teams to battle it out in a 2 week, 4 group wildcard bracket. Following completion of the ozfortress winter league 9 in May 2013, where in the Premier Grand Final Team Immunity were able to best Rewound, the ozfc3 was set to be a thriller.

Following a grueling double elimination bracket of 16 teams, Team Immunity would go on to face the infamous Supervillains who Rewound in the previous round. Casted by TFLive, it came down to the wire in the second map for Supervillians, ultimately falling to Team Immunity 5-0 5-4.

nGR Invitational was the first 6v6, best of three tournament which paved the way for subsequent events. It was also the first tournament to incorporate commercial sponsors which provided prizes for ozfortress teams.

The format consisted of 6 players on each team with the critical weapon fire effect turned off. There were also class restrictions and a map pool from which teams eliminated and picked their maps each round.

All participants to the tournament were privately invited and had to meet strict requirements to be eligible. 12 teams accepted their invite and 8 teams were given an opportunity to battle it out for 4 spots as a wildcard team. Wildcard teams fought it out in an elimination round before the tournament started.

Similar to nGRi, this competition was organised in collaboration with netGameRadio, ozfortress and iPGN.

The rules and maps did not change and more emphasis was placed on spectator involvement. This tournament also included wildcard entrants as the previous. A good write up from nesk can be found
here. The tipping competition also took off during this tournament with the top 3 winners getting sponsor prizes.

capping for a cause
Capping for a Cause, (or C4C), is a 6v6 fundraising competition involving a maximum of 16 teams fighting it out in a double elimination scenario. However there is a twist! In order to raise money, teams are asked to "buy their seed" in the competition by simply making a donation upon sign-up. The higher the donation, the higher the seed, the easier their path through the single elimination. Teams can sign up with a minimum donation of $30.00AU

Going beyond teams making donations, ozfortress.com will also match every cap out during the competition dollar4cap...much like the commonwealth bank donate $1000 for every 6 hit during the summer.

ozfortress presents: the KritzKast Lo-Fi Offclass Cup

Early in 2011, an idea was formed by the brilliantly twisted minds over at KritzKast; to host a competition which promoted the use of classes largely shunned in the competitive 6v6 scene. The basic idea? A 6v6 competition...
Quote:
where players are limited to no more than 2 of each: Pyros, Snipers or Spies; and only 1 of each: Heavy, Engineer or Medic. What’s a comp cup without a bunch of weapon restrictions? So weapon unlocks are limited to Degreaser, Flare Gun, Axtinguisher, GRU, Frontier Justice, Gunslinger, Medlocks, Huntsman, Machina, Jarate and the Dead Ringer.
So to clarify, there are no Soldiers, Scouts or Demomen allowed. Sound fun? You betcha! After promotion on the official TF2 blog, the (European) competition was run in late September, and it was widely hailed as a great success.

In January 2012, ozfortress ran its own flavor of KritzKast cup. Rules were largely the same; class restrictions and unlocks were identical to the original competition, and the map pool included Gullywash, Badlands, Snakewater, Ashville, Viaduct, and the Australian competitive debut of Foundry. The competition was be run in the double elimination style, over two nights in January.

The winners of the title, and of the set of Vintage Lo-Fi Longwaves, were the deserving Bradley Philpott Appreciation Club, aka iM. SQL came a close second, and the Dudemen fought valiantly to achieve third place.

ozfortress highlander league
An open ladder based competition which runs on 10 day intervals and follows the highlander format. Clans may join at any time if they want to compete in fun casual games.

Highlander State vs. State

Highlander State vs. State, sponsored by Tt eSPORTS followed the development of the ozfortress highlander league, an initial expansion by ozfortress into the 9v9 Highlander format. Similar to State of Origin, Australian states and territories would pit their best rosters against one another across 5 weeks of round robin play, prior to a single elimination bracket of the top 4 teams.

The tournament was supplemented by a lively tipping competition, MVP voting, and a raffle including all players, which the winners of each would take their pick of a Tt eSPORTS provided headset or mouse. After all was said and done, it was NSW that emerged victorious over WA.

Highlander Community League sponsored by Tt eSPORTS

The Highlander Community League, sponsored by Tt eSPORTS, ran from Monday August 19th to November 3rd 2013, alongside Highlander State v. State.

The HCL involved 5 week competition for 12 teams across 2 groups, with the top two teams of each qualifying for a spot in a combined semi-finals. The grand final saw velox Ðestruo beat out misotech`Rearguard for their share of the Tt eSPORTS swag.

ozfortress Summer Cup

The ozfortress Summer Cups are short tournaments which were previously held across January and March 2015, between OWL 12 and OWL 13. Each of the three cups held thus far were casted by TFLive, with assistance from community streamer Brodogs

ozfortress Summer Cup One

ozfortress Summer Cup One featured 3 divisions of play over January 4-5 2015. All divisions were double elimination brackets. Premier Division teams had Process and Granary to play prior to the best of 3 finals, while for Division 2 and 3 Badlands and Snakewater were to be their battle ground.

ozfortress Summer Cup Two: Logjammin

The second edition in the 2015 series of Summer Cups featured one map and one map only: Logjam. Also unlike the first Summer Cup, the tournament would be run entirely on Sunday January 18 2015. Premier Division would once again be a 4 team, double elimination best one 1 bracket, while division 2 and 3 had but one shot... one opportunity in a 8 team single elimination bracket concluded by a best of 3 final.

ozfortress Summer Cup Three

ozfortress Summer Cup Three featured 3 divisions of play on March 8 2015. Premier Division was a double elimination bracket of 4 teams with maps Process, Sunshine, Badlands and a best of 3 final. Divisions 2 and 3 consisted of 8 teams and ran a single elimination bracket of Process and Sunshine, followed by a best of 3 final.
