5v5 koth no restrictions default config

a certain team seriously had to ninja localhost servers and turn crits/dmgspread off at a certain event run by them >______>

at least the accounts on the provided pcs were unused, hence no unlocks

Been to the Woodville hotel with the gf (she lives 'round the corner from it), steak was pretty solid but the beer selection wasn't anything to write home about (that said, I'm spoiled rotten by the Leicester).

So yeah, half-endorsed.

The problem with reloaded LAN was the admin team.
Reloaded started as BFO LAN North (run by me) and BFO South by wookie. We eventually combined the two and named it reloaded. Wookie and I never got on, so he had the admin collective form a committee and voted most of us out of our positions. Every LAN was a power struggle and the committee eventually imploded.
Nothing was run properly and it hurt the lanning community in SA.

wasn't there v. little chance of another lan happening at the st clair rec centre tho? i thought wookie had some deal w/ the owner that he wouldn't share and the place was prohibitively expensive otherwise

Surely somebody here is a better negotiator than Wookie.

Shit, madjack is probably a better negotiator than Wookie.

We would need to find a new location. I'm fairly certain St Clair's stipulated no more LANs.

We would need to determine interest in the event, estimate of attendees, games likely to be played and competitions needed to bring in the right demographic for the time.

Sponsorship for the event would need to be organised once these questions are answered.

Online gaming has completely taken over since we ran LAN events 5-10 years ago so the venue would require a solid NBN connection, preferably a Commercial Grade one.

Best bet these days would be to get a Game or it's Developer to sponsor the event with coverage and a "no genre competition" clause. The LAN would be ticketed as a "This Game" LAN.

Drinks, Promo Girls, Tech supplies etc are easy.

I could also sponsor the LAN myself if needed. We would require more modern networking equipment (leased), dedicated admin staff, competition referees and customer service personnel.

Nailsworth and Prospect community halls are available for hire, and as far as I know the NBN should be available there now.

Would you be interested in a LAN with indie developers, merchant stalls, etc. Similar to AVcon. Our just keep it strictly a LAN?

The problem with getting A Game or It's Developer to sponsor the LAN is that Adelaide is puny.

Definitely agree that an NBN connection is mandatory. Wouldn't data usage cost be absolutely insane though?

I would be pretty interested in that tbh but if it's a whole host of extra effort it might not be worth it

Me + a lot of my friends would be interested in this kind of thing, just a LAN would be fine too.

I am pretty excited at the prospect of a new Adelaide LAN I really hope this happens and stuff.

Very keen to see this go forward. Not necessarily vital, but i'd be able to sort out some kind of partnership with Soundpond. i.e. they broadcast live, and obviously promote the event.

Would set a pretty rad vibe with music playing, and considering that their Facebook page has >11k followers, there's the potential for great exposure.

I'll contact st Clair and see what they say.
We'd probably need at least 300 attendees to make it financially viable.

Ok you bastards now I'm keen to make this happen.
It will require at least 6 months of planning methinks.

A quick list of things I'm going to need to organize;

Website
Major sponsor
~5 contributing sponsors
Promotional marketing group
Network equipment hire
Music and or MC for event (perhaps even live music)
Merchant vendors
Tabletop gaming and perhaps a magic TG tourney (I'll run some d&d games while I'm there)
Barista and lots of coffee
Projectors, screens and consoles
Shit load of bean bags
Novelty outdoor activity/s
PC game tournaments
Shoutcasters for popular games
