I came right here from google by searching for tactics on that koth map.

I feel like on koth_ultiduo it can be done in some very strange ways - like dropping your medic and jumping around while he is making enemies with ubersaw .

Can you describe some common tactics of teams who made it to the finals? Big thanks in advance!

1) Fire your rockets when you get out to the middle platform/if the other soldiers an idiot and shoots a rocket at you when he comes out of spawn, just ride his rocket to the platform.
2) Ride enemy rockets to get into a better position. (crouch jump when the rocket is just about to connect the ground near you)
4) Use shotgun when you know the soldiers is fairly low (80hp) and your mid/close range. (Optional)
5) If the other soldier has whipped out his shotgun, make your medic block some damage if your low and he's on 150-125hp
6) If you have uber/80% uber with advantage (they're just spawning), just hold that middle platform and place your rockets so it knocks the other soldier back.
7) If your confident and the enemy combo has uber and are holding middle/bottom, get a buff and jump at the medic to make him force pop! Alternatively you can just sit inside your spawn and build uber.

Seems like it's vital at midfights to position yourself so that you don't get knocked off the bridge - you'll have to waste a rocket+health to get back up again, where the opponent can just reload or fire at your medic with the advantage they have.

ill point one thing out, if your soldier dies, just forward them, dont try and stay alive (unless they dont actually hunt you down) as youll die as your soldier respawns and youll waste like 20-30 seconds getting back into gear

Or even just press your suicide bind to respawn asap if there's no hope.

(some of this might be obvious but im going to outline it anyway)
  • medic on soldier whole time
  • do not grind to get uber, if u get it then u get it
  • go for the soldier - if u got good dm ull be able to overcome the medic healing
  • if you manage to get the soldier DONT KILL THE MEDIC
  • while the soldier is down, cap, then get to the bridge above point while keeping the medic alive but away from respawn door
  • when the soldier spawns the medic will be separated from him - NOW KILL THE MEDIC
  • maintain the bridge from height
ofcourse the opposite applies too - if u lose ur soldier, kill urself as medic. keeping the medic and soldier in sync deathwise is a big advantage and if you manage to get them out of sync (most people just charge in no med/no sol) then its an advantage in your favour

  • What is the best place to hold on the bottom level (control point), if there's such a place? This is assuming the enemy are just about to head out of spawn.
  • Which class should be taken down first, medic or soldier?
Thanks for your time.

[valk] Definitely better to sit on ur sol the whole time

[valk] If u have the point u should be holding above the point. use the height advantage the same as you would in comp 6v6. if the sol drops, thats fine. just bounce him away from the point to gain valuable seconds of point holding. he cant do any damage to you when you are up top and he is down bottom

3)Which class should be taken down first, medic or soldier?
[valk] ideally the soldier, but if u arent good enough u are gonna have to vary it up and go for the med. the down side to going for the med is it leaves ur med open, so try to not use up all ur rockets on the med - give u bouncing power when the sol goes for urs

also if you crouch on the bridge above the point you can see under the metal blind thing into the other spawn which allows you to see what door the duo is about to take
