So basically i discovered this program when looking for CS:GO stuff but it also works for HL.exe which means it works for TFC, i would show some screenshots but it doesn't let me screenshot it properly. So i took some photos of my screen

These photo's aren't really that great sorry. Best way to tell is to download this and try it yourself

I suggest you download this and take a go at using it as it makes TFC look really pretty.
The application basically rides the saturation meter in your graphics card settings so therefore you cannot get Vac'd for it also.

It makes your game look like AVI quality (colour corrected and stuff)
It is really easy to use also. Just run the application-> Open TFC -> add hl.exe to the application -> slide the vibrance to desired level and enjoy.

Download here

(no support for laptops yet though sadly Sadface)

Brightens everything up pretty nicely, may ruin your eyes though after a while as it's pretty intense haha...

O_o
all that did was revert my video card's digital vibrance back to default

my tfc was already vibrant from me turning up those settings in my video card.

Yeah actually after looking in my Nvidia Control Panel, there is a function in there for this exact thing. - Still good you found to make me find thanks Liam.

rize- yeah, all this tool does is change that function in the nvidia control panel.

The usefulness of using this tool though, is because it automates boosting the vibrancy when playing games, and then sets it back to default (50%) when you're not, so desktop colour is back to normal.

What Sera said, it's good because it doesn't crank your desktop settings to shit when you're not generally using your computer

Not related, but it you have any of these monitors you should use Strobelight. Simulate a 120Hz CRT via a strobe backlight.

Zero Motion Blur on LightBoost LCD

Do you use strobelight? I go back to 144hz non-strobed within minutes of switching to it. Feels choppy on every LCD I've had that supports it, and a lot of those models will have washed out colours when using LB. Not worth the clarity.

YES! I find it odd that people don't like it. I have the ASUS VG248QE. As you said, it feels different to 144hz non-strobed at first (maybe it's the drop to 120Hz?) but I stuck with it for a few games and now it is essential. I think it is absolutely worth the clarity.

I only activate it for fast paced FPS multiplayer games where I like that edge, TFC and Quake Champions. Yes, colours look different. On my display it give a slight purple hue, nothing major. It's a TN panel and looks like shit anyway. Out of the box without configuring it with these settings it looks criminally bad. Washed out, too light and white. Why?! Even each 'splendid' mode looks like shit. 'Game mode' is a joke, colours are so bold and vivid it's like 'cartoon mode'. https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/asus-vg248qe/

I switch between ASUS VG248QE Nvidia.icm (default everyday use) and either asus_vg248qe_ncx.icm or asus_vg248qe_user.icm for lightboost mode via CPKeeper.

I've owned a few of those, and actually the colours can come out amazing - I calibrated mine down to 0.01 Dab using a Spyder4 pro in "Normal" mode with no ICC profile. The only mode worth calibrating on is normal mode, the others don't give faster response times. Do yourself a favour and rent a calibrator - using others ICC profiles gave me pretty wild results. I removed the antiglare coating from one of mine without issues and it looks fantastic.

Here is my VG248QE next to a BenQ XL2410T. The Asus has LB on. The hue isn't a problem in their later models (I currently have 2x PG278Q with ULMB)

Good to read you know what you're talking about then. I wasn't really expecting any experienced input from a VG248QE owner on a TFC forum.

I know each panel will require different settings, but the settings at pcmonitors.info and icm profiles were a good enough fix for now. I'll do some further tweaking when I can be arsed. I'll look into a colour calibrator such as the Spyder4 too.

'asus_vg248qe_user.icm' or 'Spyder ASUS Lightboost v4.icm'. (Seems to be the same profile) gets rid of the purple tint.

What are your settings for it?

What are your settings for it?
Remove all ICC profiles
set Standard mode
Brightness 16 (This gives 120cd/m2 but will probably be too low for LB)
Contrast 77
Colour temp: user mode (R 100, G 93, B 92) (0.01 dab)
Trace free 80

You're in the UK, most photo shops will let you hire out a calibrator for 10-15 pound a day

Cheers.

And I assume you two adjust accordingly. fps_max 120, cl_cmdrate 125, -freq 120? Feels bad otherwise. Or does it feel bad on all games? 144Hz regular is good enough, but I still prefer Lightboost.

I set cmdrate to suit the server side maxcmdrate (I configured the ozf tfc servers to allow 102). No -freq due to running window mode. I cap my games at a framerate of freq*2+1 (289) as this seems to be some sort of voodoo magic formula for reducing tearing
