Livelogs is back with beta version 2! Unfortunately I was not able to salvage past logs and keep them with the new database setup, so I just wiped everything and started fresh.

I've noticed a few bugs that I'm looking into which didn't show up during testing, such as team stats ending up out of this world while dynamically updating (fine when not live), and names not updating properly. If you notice others, let me know. Will post change log tomorrow.

Users who had servers uploading to Livelogs will need to contact me with their API keys to be re-added (I accidentally deleted them and for some reason they weren't included in the backup).

  • Overall
    • Changed database schema to improve organisation of data and performance, and to allow for better queries to manipulate data
  • Website
    • Added class icons and class stats
    • Shrunk index table row table heights to both fit better with tables on the other pages, and so that less vertical screen space is taken unnecessarily
    • Significantly improved parsing of live updates
      • Performance of this cannot be increased further, as looping over arrays in JavaScript apparently costs 100% of whatever core your browser is using
      • New rows are properly added when logs are live, instead of requiring a refresh for new players to be added to the tables
    • Updated all non-home page tables to support sorting
      • Also disabled jQueryUI on the tables because I cbf getting sorting icons for it (which means there are now sorting icons on the tables)
    • Archive and player log pages now support paging on their respective log tables, allowing for viewing of all logs recorded for an individual player, or all logs recorded overall
      • The archive now has greater search functionality, such as searching by SteamID, player name, log name, server ip/port, time, date, etc
    • Added Leaderboard link - still WIP on what's going to be in it!
    • Dates are now a bit more sensible and readable
    • Logs now use a short unique ID instead of the long unique identifier previously used (the long unique identifier is used internally)
    • Redundant CSS classes have been removed
  • Parsing daemon
    • User API keys now support an unlimited number of servers per key, so users will not have to register multiple servers
    • Now supports up to 100 simultaneous logs being parsed, and can scale further depending on memory availability and disk IO
    • Now uses the Steam API to allow class detection based on weapons used, so new custom weapons will be detectable without the need for modification
    • Significantly improved client data management in the log parser class
      • Also fixed a few possible race conditions with ending logs
  • Websocket Server
    • Rewrote most of the client handling class
    • Rewrote all of the client data handling and log data handling
    • Changed to single threaded to prevent segmentation faults due to tornado's IOLoop being single threaded
      • This will prevent the server randomly dying and live updates not working
    • Significantly improved performance
    • Log status is now properly cached and managed
    • Log data is now updated internally based on a round-robin system (still updates once per second), so that it is not a race for database connections from the pool (throttling)
      • This means that there will be slight delays when there are significant number of live logs being viewed (i.e every 20 logs being viewed will cause a ~5 second delay on updates)
    • Slightly improved how updates are sent to connected clients

Overall I like the update and this is a really minor thing but...

Would it be possible to only show class icons for classes that you played for more than 10 seconds? I didn't find it as useful when everyone had 4 class icons from forward spawning.

Just a random thought.

I'd have pyro in every log because swapping for forward spawns, really would love this feature.

its mainly for knowing who was what primary class, not how much ppl were playing spy.

i assume it would be a big hassle too

wicked shit bladez, its reasons like these why we love you the way we do.

I am suggesting one thing, with classes... is there anyway you can only have them register if played more than 1minute, this then removes pyro registering for forward or/and back spawning

It's also good if you want to know who that really good sniper on the other team was (for example). So shooting's suggestion of a 1 min timer would be a decent implementation of this.

Forgot to mention this before but I also appreciate the work you put into LiveLogs, makes scrimming that much more interesting.

Changelog 0.3.1
  • Classes that are typically used for spawn swapping (spy/sniper/engineer/pyro) are not instantly added when a player swaps to them, and require a kill to be added. Standard classes (scout/soldier/demoman/medic/heavy) are still added straight away.
  • Player names are properly updated
    • Also includes individual logs being properly updated
  • Fixed live logs that finish duplicating DISPLAYED stats (stored stats are still what they are meant to be) at the end of the log
  • Some potential fixes to the 'NONE' team issue

i think you should consider including buffing in the 'heals' listed for each medic, or if possible listing them as separate stats. i don't know if that would be easy to do, but it would definitely be a nice touch

actually, there is a way to get buffed health, but I can't be sure who it came from if there is possibly more than 1 medic per team
