I've been working on this for a while, and I'm happy to finally be able to release it to the general public.
This is a sound modification for Team Fortress 2 that replaces the original shrill, ear-splitting, and generally spiteful announcer with everyone's favorite and ever-beloved male monotone robotic voice, aka VOX from the automated diagnostic and announcement system in Half-Life 1 and also heard as the announcer in Team Fortress Classic.
Great effort was taken to ensure quality as well as the highest accuracy when replicating the VOX announcements using the available sounds. TFC fans will recognize a few phrases. However (And I'm not trying to belittle my own work, just forewarning), please understand that the VOX vocabulary is extremely limited. Hence, I had to substitute a few words here and there in order to make the sentences adapt well to TF2. The only real noticeable changes are to the words "dropped" and "intelligence", as in "the enemy dropped the intelligence." The closest VOX-equivalents possible were "released" and "objective", meaning you'll hear "the enemy released the objective" instead. I don't feel this ruins any aspect of the game, though. Despite that one odd case, all of the other announcer messages were quite easily replicable. If anything, I think the few differences gives VOX its own personality (Seeing as he's badass and all). I am very pleased with the overall result, and I hope some of you out there will enjoy it too.
