Welcome back everyone! ozfortress season 20 is upon us, the flagship competitive TF2 event for the Oceanic region returns for the third season of 2017! As usual, the league will be run using the highly successful league system: Citadel. As always, whether you are a hardened veteran of the scene or a newcomer to 6v6 TF2 there will be a place for you in ozfortress season 20 and we hope to see you there!

OZF 20 will feature 3 brackets: Premier, Intermediate and Open. Premier will have a round robin group stage while the lower two brackets will consist of a Swiss group stage. All brackets will continue using the Page Playoffs format as implemented last season.

All server booking will continue to be done through ozfortress discord. Simply join the #bookings channel in the ozfortress Discord and type /book and details of your server booking will be PM'd to you. To view more commands, type /help in the #bookings channel.

Grand Finals for Premier shall be played as a no-advantage best of 5, while Open and Intermediate Grand Finals will remain a best of 3. Premier will have 8 teams while Intermediate's bracket size is pending signups. Open will have an unrestricted number of teams.

This season, we also welcome 2 new members to the ozfortress staff, sage and catfish. sage will be managing the Intermediate bracket and catfish will be administrating the Open bracket, both with the help of existing staff. wiggin will also be transferring to an advisory role due to external commitments. Lastly, yauch will be stepping down from the ozfortress admin team. We thank him for his past efforts and wish him well in the future.

In Citadel, Captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, Captains can invite players to the Team. Team invites are shown on a player's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a pool of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be in the pool for multiple teams but only one Roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a Roster for tournaments under the League page.

If you are using an existing team, you do not have to recreate your team again! Simply sign up your OZF 20 roster using your existing team.

If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the #recruitment section of the ozfortress Discord where you can express your interest in joining a team, or peruse potential players to form a team of your own. Teams are normally comprised of 1 Medic, 1 Demoman, 2 Soldiers and 2 Scouts. If you're new to the competitive scene, click here for an introduction to ozfortress!

Please ensure you have enough backups to last the season; teams are allowed a maximum of 10 players rostered for any single tournament.

TFLIVE will once again be returning this season as your number 1 destination for ozfortress coverage. Featuring an experienced lineup of casters and the highest quality TF2 production, TFLIVE is the home of Premier Oceanic TF2 coverage. If you're looking for past matches to get a feel for the game, they can be found on the TFLIVE YouTube. However, the best way to learn the game is usually to just start playing. Whether you're a veteran or new to the scene, get on a team and come play!

You can sign up Wednesday the 16th up until Friday the 25th of August at 11:59 PM, with the season starting on Sunday the 27th of August 2017.

To gain a better grasp of the current opinions of the community, we're running a poll. The poll shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes, and includes questions on maps, unlocks and more. Although the results will be made public at a later date, they are not reflective of any possible changes.

It would be greatly appreciated if you take the time to express your views so we can make ozfortress better!

Congratulations to Jasmine Tea on winning the OZF 19 Premier Grand Final against no safeword.

The first map of the series was Jasmine Tea's pick of Snakewater; and despite slow initial round with resistance from no safeword, Jasmine were able to eventually take the first round of the series. Strong play from their flank allowed them to gain an early 2-0 lead, but as the map continued, there seemed to be some disconnect within the combo of Jasmine Tea, allowing enrith, to capitalise on this weak-spot and pump out huge damage to help his team draw the scores level at 2-2 at the end of map time. With the first map on the line in Golden Cap round, both teams were eager to edge out an early lead for the series, but a mid fight win, coupled with the Sniping talents of Elmo proved to be too much for no safeword, resulting in Jasmine Tea winning 3-2.

The teams then found themselves on Process, and both pockets quickly asserted their dominance on the map with both ywl and Geoh putting on a display, ultimately however, it was once again Jasmine that were able to take the early lead in the map. Not content with simply finishing 2nd, no safeword clicked into gear and a strong showing from teejay saw them manage to eventually grab a lead in the series. However, strong team play along with an incredible sniping spree with Geoh saw Jasmine hold a 3-2 lead with little time remaining. After it looked like Jasmine had finally manage to hold the assault of no safeword, with 10 seconds remaining in the map, ywl was able to launch himself onto the point, forcing a second Golden Cap. No safeword were able to continue this quick burst of dominance, and ended up levelling up the series at 1 map a piece.

The competitive staple Badlands was the 3rd map, and Jasmine showed their experience, especially Paulsen who dominated the mid-fights. No safeword seemingly had no answer to the sudden dominance, and were quickly put to the sword, losing by map differential and failing to pick up a single round.

Jasmine Tea were now on map point, strong plays from both Paulsen and Madness allowed them to take an early lead and seemingly completely close out the game. But, refusing to go down so easily, no safeword started to fight their way back from a 4-1 deficit to only a single round disadvantage. However, with only a minute and a half remaining on the timer, Jasmine were able to run down the clock to win the map 5-4, and take the Best-of-5 series 3-1 to claim yet another title of ozfortress Premier Champions.

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Season 20 is right round the corner!

Congratulations to S A D B O Y S on winning the OZF 19 Intermediate Grand Final against Salt Free Gaming..

The first map of the series was Process, with S A D B O Y S stamping their authority on the match immediately, easily winning out the first round. Even through the constant internet issues that riddled the match, the domination from Yui and his team continued, and despite the best efforts from Wiggin and Paymh, poor Über trades and team-fights resulted in Salt Free Gaming. eventually going down 5-0 in just over half the map time.

Salt Free Gaming.'s map pick, Granary, was the next battle-ground and S A D B O Y S came out firing, looking to take the series in 2 maps, winning the first mid-fight easily, their opponents were able to weather the storm and pick up their first round win of the series. From here, it appeared to be a complete reverse of the first map as S A D B O Y S seemingly appeared to have no plans to counter the storm that was dauq, catfish and Wiggin and got reverse swept to lose the map 5-0.

With all to play for the teams took to Snakewater. Although the first rounds were hard fought, S A D B O Y S managed to take the lead 2-0 with Yui reasserting his dominance after a quiet Granary. With only five minutes to go technical issues forced a server restart, S A D B O Y S proceeded to hold onto the lead and finish with a 3-0 victory. Crowning them the Season 19 Intermediate champions.

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Season 20 is right round the corner!

Congratulations to MORTified on winning the OZF 19 Open Grand Final against talk smack get wacked.

The ozfortress Season 19 Open Grand Final see the top seeded playoff team of MORTified take on the second-seeded talk smack get wacked in a replay of the UPP a week prior. The first map was Snakewater, and MORTified opened strong with a dominant mid win into a quickly converted last push, putting the opponent immediately on the back foot. What followed next was a very closely fought round, with neither team giving an inch. Both Huffy and 2345y were on fire; both Demomen showing off their incredible pipe aim whilst being complimented by strong pocket play from Seraph and Woof. The flank players all had their moments, with MORTified's ARandomDeadDude and talk smack's ZyLife both coming up with damaging flank plays at times. Both teams repeatedly exchanged points and frags in a marathon round, however, despite ARandomDeadDude's altercation with a roller door, MORTified found themselves attacking last thanks to an extremely impressive showing from their scout Xaichi. However, talk smack get wacked's absorbed multiple last pushes, but an ill-fated attempt to push out of last would eventually be their undoing as Nexus managed to sneak behind for a backcap, winning MORTified the epic 25-minute round and securing themselves snakewater by a score of 2-0.

Now facing a map deficit, talk smack get wacked came into their map pick of Process and showed their bad intentions early with a dominant mid win led by an Ownage 4k. However, MORTified showed their fortitude, defending last strongly and repeatedly catching out isolated talk smackd players and generating player advantages. MORTified managed to slowly push the length of the map, eventually finding themselves pushing at the last of talk smack. talk smack's last defences were commendable, with some clutch engineer play from ZiLyfe and strong damage output from 2345y. But the eventual difference maker would be ARandomDeadDude , whose Sniper play was borderline absurd and eventually created the opening MORTified needed to successfully push last and take a 1-0 lead. Momentum now heavily in their favour, MORTified continued to show cohesive team play and repeatedly picked off straggling members of talk smack; those player advantages allowing them to follow up on Huffy's damage and close out 2 more rounds. With the clock against them and facing a 3-0 deficit, talk smack tried to turn up the aggression and take the fight to MORTified, but it proved to be too little too late as MORTified secured a 3-0 win on process, becoming ozfortress Season 19 Open Champions by a map score of 2-0.

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Season 20 is right round the corner!
