Craving even more ozfortress action before OZF 18? Well, after the success of the first of our holiday cup, we are happy to announce the second summer event - ozfortress: A Midsummer Night's Cup 2 2017, where once again teams will compete over a one-night cup in two or three brackets. Midsummer Night's Cup 2 will be held on the 15th of January and be sure to remember ozfortress will be running tournament(s) over every Summer so keep an eye out for this every November!

The Cup is designed to be a casual laid-back event for over the Summer, especially after two seasons of the flagship league run back to back. Focusing on a relaxed experience, there will be three brackets - Premier, Intermediate and Open. Premier and Intermediate will have 8 teams while Open will have 16, signups permitting. All brackets will be a single elimination bracket, over a single night.

Each match will be a best-of-one with maps being set, using a win-difference of 5 / 30 minutes format. King of the Hill maps are played to a first to three format.

Ties are not allowed, and can be resolved by Golden Cap, which is first to 1 / 10 minutes. If no one caps last at the end of 10 minutes, the team that owns the middle point will be declared the winner.

Maps for Midsummer Night Cup 2 will now feature a second new map to be played in rotation, cp_cardinal_b1a, and following with the first cup, the Grand Final of Premier and Intermediate brackets will be played over three maps using a pick-ban system with a slightly modified OZF 17 Map Pool. All other matches are played in a best of one format.

Unfortunately, as these are One Night Cups, there will be NO badges for this Summer event.

As the schedule for this tournament is tight, teams must be ready with at least 5 rostered players in the server by the round start time. If a team is more than FIVE minutes late, your bracket's league administrator MUST be contacted and a forfeit win will be recorded. DO NOT DELAY YOUR MATCH AS A COURTESY TO A LATE TEAM. ONE DELAYED MATCH DELAYS THE WHOLE TOURNAMENT. Note that 5CP matches can go for 40 minutes with a Golden Cap, so this must be followed closely.

ozfortress servers will be used for this competition, but they will be distributed by ozfortress League Administrators. Be sure to be in the ozfortress Discord for ease of communication

Since there are multiple brackets, all administrators will be separated into respective brackets like the seasonal league. League administrators and their respective brackets will be announced when signups end.

Like previous seasons of the ozfortress seasonal league, along with the last cup, we will be using the highly successful league system - Citadel. In Citadel, Captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, Captains can invite a user to the Team. Team invites are shown on a user's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right hand corner of your screen. Teams provide a bucket of players that can be signed up for a tournament. Players may be on multiple teams but only one Roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a Roster for tournaments under the League page. Thanks to our developer, map selection as described above has been implemented into Citadel.

If you are using an existing team, you do not have to recreate your team again! Simply sign up your A Midsummer Night's Cup 2 2017 roster using your existing team.

There are some ruleset differences between the Midsummer Night's Cups and the regular seasonal league. Be sure to have a read of the changes to make sure you are up to date. These have been outlined in the following posts and in the FAQ.

If you're new and not sure how to get started, don't fret! Check out the recruitment section where you can find or form a team. Teams are normally comprised of 1 Medic, 1 Demoman, 2 Soldiers and 2 Scouts. However, the best way to learn the game is usually to just start playing. Whether you're a veteran or new to the scene, get on a team and come play!

Yet again we are keen to get this information out for people to know about this - form your teams, and get ready to play some great TF2. Signups are open now, right up until Friday the 13th of January at 11:59 PM!

Happy New Year ozfortress!

On behalf of the entire admin team, I'd like to wish the ozfortress community a very happy new year. It's been a really fun year, and we are super excited about what we have planned for the next! We have the second night of A Midsummer Night's Cup 2017 just round the corner, and an action-packed OZF 18 right after that!

This year has been yet another great year for our community. For the first time in ozfortress history, we had three seasons of our flagship league in a year. Not only this, we had a solid turnout for the first night of A Midsummer Night's Cup. We only have the community to thank for that, and we hope that your enthusiasm will continue throughout this new year!

Thanks everyone for traveling with us throughout the year and being such a supportive community. We do this because we love it, and we hope you love the ride too . With that, have fun, stay safe, and see you all around for an incredible 2017.

More ozfortress cups? We are happy to announce the event of this holiday season - ozfortress: A Midsummer Night's Cup 2017, where teams will compete over two separate one-night cups in two or three brackets. Congratulations Intermediate winners Salt Free Gaming.

Logs
Reckoner - 3 - 0
Badlands - 2 - 1

The first map picked was Reckoner, a notorious dark horse of the map pool which Salt Free Gaming. scrim frequently. As is typical of Reckoner, it was a slow-fought affair, with long stints of time spent on the last point of both teams. Some extremely solid defensive pocket play from catfish saved the last point of Salt Free Gaming. on multiple occasions, and despite solid combo play from the combo of francis’ classroom, namely Roro and Azer, Salt Free Gaming. were able to take the lead after a grueling 15 minute first round. The scouts of Salt Free Gaming. showed their worth in the second half of the map, following up on the damage of wiggin and catfish in a way that the scouts of francis’ classroom were not, and Salt Free Gaming. were able to close out Reckoner with a score of 3-0.

With their tournament life on the line, francis’ classroom threw everything at Badlands, closing out a quick and convincing first round off the back of some overwhelming team aggression. But the experience of Salt Free Gaming. began to show as they were able to adjust in the second round, with the quality of their flank really shining through as dauq and dvp lead the way as Salt Free Gaming. ground out an equalising round. With half the map gone, Salt Free Gaming. continued their strangle hold on the map, taking a second round in a row and with it the lead. Rallied by the damage and fragging power of Roro, francis’ classroom took mid, realising their grand final life was on the line. But they were unable to convert their mid win into an equalising round, as Salt Free Gaming. took Badlands 2-1, and with it the series 2-0.

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Reminder that Summer Cup 2017 is coming soon so go sign up!

Congratulations Open winners Yeah

Logs
Reckoner - 2 - 3 (GC)
Badlands - 3 - 1
Process - 3 - 2

Congratulations to Yeah on winning the OZF 17 Open Grand Final in a very close game against FO THE OPHANS.

The match started with Reckoner, and FO THE OPHANS got off to a fantastic start, wiping Yeah on mid and taking the first round in under 3 minutes. Yeah were able to level the score with a quick round win, before FO THE OPHANS won another round to again take the lead. After a very long 4th round, Yeah again found another round to level the score at 2-2, where the score remained until the map timer ran out.

The Golden Cap was a back and forward affair, and several great headshots by Dat Walrus almost found a win for Yeah, but FO THE OPHANS were able to finally seal the win after 5 minutes.

Map 2 was Badlands, and Yeah immediately got off to a great start, winning round one in under 3 minutes. The next round was a total stalemate (in fact, the round timer ran out), with the bus well and truly parked on the last control point. After the round restart, Yeah then won 2 rounds to give themselves a comfortable advantage. FO THE OPHANS managed to win a quick round to bring the scoreline back to 3-1, but time was working against them and the scoreline remained 3-1 to Yeah at the end of the map.

The decider was Process and Yeah again built a great foundation by winning the first round in a minute and a half, and then won a second round for some breathing room. However FO THE OPHANS were not down and out, pulling the score back to 2-2 with some aggressive play. Yeah put a stop to this by winning another quick round to bring the score to 3-2, and held out for a marathon 10+ minutes to seal the match win, crowning them as OZF 17 Open Champions!

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Reminder that Summer Cup 2017 is coming soon so go sign up!
