It's been two years since Ultiduo 10, and now I am very happy to announce Ultiduo 11! On Sunday 23rd of April, duos will battle it out for the championship title! Some changes are in order this season, so seasoned and new players take a minute to familiarise yourselves with the changes below.

Over the 10 iterations of Ultiduo we have seen over 400 duos compete with a lot of fun and we hope that Ultiduo 11 will be no different. We're using the classic whitelist along with koth_ultiduo_r_b7 to maintain the old-school tradition. All matches will be a Best-of-1 in a Single Elimination format. However, the Semi-Finals and the Grand Final will be a Best-of-3. The top 8 teams will be seeded and the rest will be randomized. The same two players must play throughout the tournament. Unfortunately, there will be no medals for this tournament.

In Citadel, Captains can create Teams using the "Start Team" button on the Teams page. Once created, Captains can invite players to the Team. Team invites are shown on a player's profile, which can be accessed by clicking on your name next to the bell on the top right hand corner of your screen. Players may be on multiple teams but only one Roster for any given tournament. Captains may sign up a Roster for tournaments under the League page.

If you are using an existing team, you do not have to recreate your team again! Simply sign up your Ultiduo duo using your existing team. Only one duo may sign up per existing team.

Signups:
Ultiduo 11 sign-ups will be done using Citadel, just like previous ozfortress seasonal leagues. Signups are limited to 64 teams so get in quick! Signups will open on Friday the 21st of April and close on Sunday the 23rd of April at 4:00 PM AEST!
Round 1 - 7:30 PM AEST - 7:50 PM AEST

Round 4 - 8:30 PM AEST - 8:50 PM AEST
Semi-Finals - 8:50 PM AEST - 9:40 PM AEST (Bo3)

To gain a better grasp of the current opinions of the community, we're running a poll. The poll shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes, and includes questions on maps, unlocks and more. Although the results will be made public at a later date, they are not reflective of any possible changes.

It would be greatly appreciated if you take the time to express your views so we can make ozfortress better!

Congratulations Premier winners no safeword

Logs
Badlands - 5 - 0
Snakewater - 3 - 1
Product - 3 - 1
Match

Congratulations to no safeword on winning the OZF 18 Premier Grand Final against Mad Men.

The final started off on the old staple of Badlands, and after a relatively slow start no safeword finally managed to take the first round off the back of a very impressive uber from the combo of enrith and ywl. From here the momentum continued to go their way and Mad Men’s relative lack of experience shone brightly as they struggled to find their footing, eventually losing in a clean 5-0 sweep. Snakewater was the next battleground and while Mad Men managed to put up a bit of a closer fight after slowing the pace of the match down to a crawl, cleaner uber fights from no safeword coupled with the sniping prowess of Geoh proved far too much as they took the map 2-1 and lead the series 2-0.

With match point and the title of season 18 Premier Championship on the line, Mad Men stormed out of the gates on Product with a fresh scout of ohai along with Hertz making the inspired swap onto Sniper they were able to clutch out an early lead. From here the match turned into a heavy DM fest with players from both teams coming out with jaw-dropping plays, but in the end no safeword were able to flex their dominance and win both the map and claimed the title of ozfortress Season 18 Premier Champions!

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Reminder that Ultiduo 11 is right round the corner so go sign up!

Congratulations Intermediate winners [ Brave Loyal and Kind ]

Logs
Granary - 4 - 3
Process - 4 - 1
Match

Congratulations to [ Brave Loyal And Kind ] on winning the OZF 18 Intermediate Grand Final against Twig's Bundles.

The first map of Granary opened heavily in favour of Twig's Bundles, with Yui and Meta putting out very large amounts of damage and turning team fights against [ Brave, Loyal and Kind ], giving Yui and his teammates an early lead. But BLaK were able to adapt, and with some excellent coordinated aggression between the Soldiers of berko and Big-Dad, BLaK were able to put themselves right back into the match. Yui tried to take matters into his own hands for Twig's Bundles, absorbing heals and putting out excellent damage, but berko was able to find multiple frags on the flank on a few occasions. Ryan's "diverse" offclassing was too much for Twig's Bundles to overcome, and following multiple failed attempts on BLaK's last Granary ended 4-3 in favour of [ Brave, Loyal and Kind ].

Process again opened up quickly in favour of Twig's Bundles, as they looked to take back some momentum quickly following their first map loss with a convincing retake of the midpoint resulting in wave of aggression. Although Yui's Sniper was not being hugely effective,BLaK were able to make the right adjustments. With Yukari putting out massive amounts of damage BLaK found themselves right back in the game on their opposition's map pick. Points were traded consistently as both teams played well around their combo, but the defining moment of the map came when Twig's Bundles attempted to push the midpoint, Hirast and Ryan managed to sneak behind and coordinate a perfect backcap, all but sealing the fixture in favour of BLaK. Process ended with a score of 4-1 with [ Brave, Loyal and Kind ] claiming the title of ozfortress Season 18 Intermediate Champions!

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Reminder that Ultiduo 11 is right round the corner so go sign up!

Congratulations Open winners WhoopieShare

Logs
Gullywash - 4 - 2
Granary - 5 - 0
Match

Congratulations to WhoopieShare on winning the OZF 18 Open Grand Final against Blackbird 6's.

Gullywash was the first map of the Grand Final, a very demo favoured map and neither demo disappointed, with both Lazz and Pengy putting up solid numbers. Blackbird 6's were very solid on mid fights, but they never seemed able to convert rounds due to a combination of technical difficulties and excellent Vaccinator play from WhoopieShare's Medic Apodyopsis. Despite going down early and being unable to get the upper hand on midfights, WhoopieShare were able to constantly grind out advantages through a combination of solid defenses and excellent ÜberCharge usage from BB. WhoopieShare closed out Gullywash with a score of 4-2.

Riding the momentum from their win on Gullywash, WhoopieShare came out firing on Granary, with their combo pumping out damage and eels playing excellently on the cleanup scout role. Blackbird 6's were unable to find the answers and Granary ended 5-0 in favour of WhoopieShare, earning themselves the title of ozfortress Season 18 Open Champions!

Thank you to all the players and support staff that helped make this season possible! Reminder that Ultiduo 11 is right round the corner so go sign up!

Quote:

IMMEDIATE CHANGES TO PLAYOFFS
Following a recent meeting of administrators from all major global TF2 leagues, the subsequent amendments have been made to the Global Whitelist, effective immediately.

New Bans:
- Jarate
- Loch-n-Load
- The Pomson 6000
- The Vaccinator
- The Dead Ringer

New Unbans:
- Darwin's Danger Shield
- Solemn Vow
- Quick-Fix

Again, I would like to reiterate that all changes to the Global Whitelist are effective immediately and have been added to the ozfortress season 18 whitelist.

The second change regarding finals is a change to the administrative team. As many of us on the administrative team are suffering from increased workloads as well as real life commitments, we have brought Kenneth out of retirement to help us finish Season 18 as best we can. Kenneth will be overseeing Premier and Intermediate finals alongside Fozzlm and myself.
April Fool's my friends.
